Vicki Courtney
Author & Speaker
God has graciously given me a platform to write and speak and not a day goes by that I’m not floored by that fact. I don’t come with any preconceived notions that He has given me this privilege because I’m qualified for the task. Quite the contrary. I am nothing more than a poster child for God’s grace and mercy. On the average day, I’m still a mess of a girl reminding myself of the same truths I discovered back in 1985 at that weekend retreat. I continue to strive, mess up, ‘fess up, and rediscover God’s grace on a daily basis. I’m a work in progress. It is my prayer that this site, my books, and the messages I present at events will point not to me, but to His goodness and mercy. Apart from that, the rest is just fluff.
The gospel was clearly presented on the first night of the event and my icy heart began to melt. Eleven choruses of “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus” later, I gave up the chase and said “yes” to Jesus. (A shout-out to the Southern Baptists who keep on singing until everyone in the room is saved.)
While the highlight of that event was meeting Jesus, I also happened to meet a rather handsome, squeaky-clean, church boy named Keith Courtney. That squeaky clean Christian boy and I married in 1987, settled down in Austin, Texas, and raised three kids who have all flown the nest, married, and begun their own families.
Debbie Alsdorf
Author & Speaker
Debbie Alsdorf’s mission is to help women live a better story—by leading them to the heart of God’s love and the truth of His word. Not a stranger to hard life, she has been trained through troubles to find the gift in every bitter cup. She speaks internationally delivering messages with wit, biblical truth, vulnerability and hope. She is an Amazon best-selling author of women’s non-fiction and bible studies, a biblical lay counselor, certified life coach and the founder of Design4Living ministries. In addition, she mentors at writers’ conferences and is a speaking coach for The Leverage speakers/communicators conference. Her newest release, It’s Momplicated, offering hope and healing for imperfect mothers and daughters, was featured on The Today Show.
She and her husband Ray have been married 28 years and raised a blended family of four adult children. Together they minister to marrieds, pre-marrieds and blended families. She likes long walks, anything with sand and sea, dancing in Zumba classes and a good chocolate donut. But her favorite thing of all is being a Grammy to their ten little loves, all under five years of age. Her cup, once empty, is overflowing with grace, hope and purpose.
Sally Baucke
Comedian & Speaker
All you really need to know is that Sally is just a regular Joe, an “every woman” kind of gal who loves to wear a tiara around the house while she cleans. Sally doesn’t want to be famous, she just wants to be an encourager of people. Sally has been married for almost 30 years, has 3 amazing sons, and a RN by education. Sally started doing comedy through a random appearance at a church chili comedy night.
Sally loves to speak on stage, and writing her book What Didn’t Kill Me Made Me Funny! was simply a stepping stone for that. The most important thing you need to know about Sally is her Savior is the Love of her life, and the Lover of her soul.
Jennifer Shaw
Speaker, Singer/Songwriter
Warm. Real. Funny. Intelligent. Engaging. These are some of the words people use to describe Jennifer Shaw. But her favorite? “Christ-follower, absolutely,” she says. With a love for people and a heart to serve God, Jennifer wants nothing more than to point people toward the One who has changed everything in her own life.
Both a special needs and adoptive mom, Shaw is also a Telly Award-winning speaker, author, singer, songwriter, and five-time Billboard Top 40 artist who never thought she’d be doing what she’s doing now.
This foundation on the truth of God’s faithfulness has made Jennifer brave and passionate about sharing Christ with others in many ways. She now speaks around the country and around the world, and always shares the Gospel wherever she goes. “It is the most important thing you will ever hear on this earth, and I don’t want anyone to miss the true life that comes with knowing Christ!”
Jennifer and her family have also become very passionate about the welfare of children. She works with Compassion International to fight poverty and sponsor children in need, and her newest CD entitled Someday features the theme song she wrote for Remember NHU, a non-profit organization which fights child sex trafficking. Another song on the album called “Your Child” is Jennifer’s heart-felt anthem for all special needs’ parents. The music video of the song debuted on Focus on the Family’s “I Am Pro-Life” Facebook page to over 500,000 followers and has also been used by Joni Eareckson Tada’s organization, Joni and Friends, a worldwide organization which serves people with disabilities. Jennifer’s songs have become powerful reflections of the faith walk she has learned can be both treacherous and sweet. “He’s never left me or forsaken me, and He’s made me braver each day. I want everyone to know this Jesus who changed everything in my life.”
