Recently, I had the opportunity to attend a speaker training session for Compassion International Presenters in the beautiful city of Nashville, TN. Aside from that town being one of my favorite places to visit, and the opportunity to focus in on improving my skills, it was so encouraging to be around people that share the same passion that I do.
One of my favorite parts of the Aspire One Night Event is the moment in the evening when I share about Compassion International and the work they do around the world to release children from poverty in Jesus name. I could go on about the organization, but right now, my goal is not to educate you on all they do, but to share with you one of my great take-aways from the workshop.
Yes, we focused on storytelling and being able to better articulate with honesty the struggles, hopes and joys of the lives of those that Compassion ministers too. Yes, we studied statistics and facts and all of that was helpful, but what really got me…what really stuck with me was a challenging question that our speaker, Shaun Groves shared. He asked us “Where does your passion for Compassion come from?”
It hit me, it made me pause and it made me really think. I have always loved this organization, but I don’t think I ever actually asked myself why. Well friends, that question has now been asked and answered. Because of the that and the journey the Lord took me through to get to the other side, I can say that I am even more excited about the opportunity to share, more excited about every hand that will be raised to sponsor a child, more excited and even more passionate about being a voice for the voiceless through Compassion International.
So next time you see me, you may just hear where my passion for Compassion comes from.
But, what about you? We may not all be voices for Compassion, but I am sure that the Lord has you as a voice and a mouthpiece for something! So I ask you the same question, as you live out your calling, serve as the hands and feet of Jesus, and love those in need, Where does your passion for ___________ come from? Answering that question may be just the shot in the arm you need to revive and revitalize your mission.
See you soon!
