Aspire Fall Tour 2017 is in full swing and it has been amazing. It’s been a hoot adding Anita Renfroe to the lineup, she has brought a refreshing amount of laughter and energy that we love to have at our girls night out.
It’s a joy working with a rotation of speakers, comedians and teachers, but just when I think I have the order memorized, we change the flow of the night, sometimes right before the event starts, but we go with it. I like living in the edge (you know, in a safe and non threatening sort of way.)
Recently, at one of our events, I was in the zone. I had just finished jumping around on stage having a grand ol time and then I introduced Anita to come back and get us laughing. Up she came and did her thing. I sat there and watched her act, turned to my friend Shannon Hoffpauir and said “Hmmm, I forgot to sing my songs.” I completely blanked on the order and missed my set.
We just looked at each other, laughed and tried to figured out a way to recover. Crazy thing is, I felt the Lord telling me that I was not gonna do a set tonight, no recovery needed. We decided to simply have Shannon go up and teach. Towards the end of her lesson, she called me up to share one song that tied so perfectly into what she was preaching on, “You Are Not Alone.”
It was flawless. It was as though God had planned it from the very beginning. I love sharing more than one my songs, but God had something bigger planned. He pruned my set so that what He wanted for the night would grow and produce much fruit. And it did!
Have you ever gotten cut, left out, felt like you missed your time to shine. Yes? Me too!! Here’s the thing, yes, loss is hard, painful and sometimes downright unfair, but even in those circumstances God can do great things for us and through us if we simply stand in a posture that says “Here I am Lord, use me the way you want.”
When we choose to focus on the opportunity to be used instead of the opportunity we think we have lost, THEN we can see how all things work together for good to those who are called according to HIS purposes and not to our time in the spotlight.
“Choose to focus on the opportunity to be used instead of the opportunity we think we have lost.” – Mia Koehne
