Hopefully by the time you read this, I will be on board a ship setting sail on the first ever ASPIRE Cruise.
Typically an Aspire event lasts 1 night for 3 hours, but we thought it would be fun to do a three day event and what better place than on board a ship!
So, off we go.
Just this evening as I was sitting with my husband talking about what we will pack for the trip and the things we are looking forward to, I shared with him that my biggest joy will be having an extended time to sit, listen and get to know the ladies that attend.
At the beginning of this year, my prayer to the Lord for 2018 was that I would be able to “see” people. For me, really seeing people means getting to know them, listening to them as individuals and hearing the heart beat of their lives.
This cruise is one way that the Lord is opening up that opportunity in my own life. Yet, there are so many others ways. And, these other ways all call for intentionality, perseverance and follow through. It takes picking up the phone and making that coffee date. It means leaving messages and pursuing relationships, It means showing up even when I am tired and struggling with anxiety.
May we, as we go through the busyness of our lives, find ways to “see” people. May the Lord give us vision to see the hurts, the pain and the joy of those around us. May we weep with them, may we rejoice with them, may we open ourselves up to be comforted by them and allow others to share in the joy of our own lives too.
Hmmm, as much as I strive to see people, even more I pray that I would allow people to see me in the same way. As this blog unfolds and as I write these words, I now realize, in my life, that being seen…that’s the hard part, because that calls for vulnerability! OUCH! Now that’s a whole ‘nother post.
Bon voyage as you seek to see and to be seen!
Love you in the Lord, Mia
